Nemo Dagger Osmo 2P Review

We recently purchased the Dagger Osmo 2P, a light weight backpacking tent from the company Nemo. I'm super impressed so far by the design, the materials and the attention to detail that went into this tent.

Specifications:

The inner body of the tent measures 90" by 50", on both ends, which is super important if you want to use two of the newer 25" wide sleeping pads (game changer in my opinion).

Peak Height: 42 Inches. Weight: Packaged weight = 4 lbs 2oz (1.87kg) Minimum trail weight - 3 lbs, 6 oz (1.53kg) Colors: Burch Bud/Midnight Grey The tent has two doors, one on each side, along with huge vestibules on both sides.

The dagger also comes with an additional add on called the "Landing zone" which is a waterproof floor for one of the vestibules, a super handy place to keep backpacks, and items you don't need directly inside the tent itself.

Primary considerations we made:

Sara and I plan on doing the majority of our backpacking with our two dogs, a one hundred pound Labrador retriever and a 50lb Austrailian Shepperd mix. Rather then bringing a tent that would accommodate all four of us at the same time, we opted for two, 2 person tents, with each of us sleeping with a dog.

Because we already owned an “Ultralight” tent, the Durston X-Mid 2P, we decided that a free standing tent, that was a little more substantial would be the move. I watched tons and tons of review videos and based on weight, ease of getting in and out of the tent, setup and more…we chose the Nemo over the Sea 2 Summit Telos tent, the MSR Hubba Hubba and the Big Agnes Copper Spur and the REI Half Dome.

Things To Note:

The Nemo Dagger does not come with a footprint, although one can be purchased if you feel like you need it. I personally will just use a sheet of tyvec, cut to size. The connections that are used for the poles and the tent body itself are called Jake’s feet are are a little different then what you are likely used to. Lastly, the stakes that are included with the tent, are ok…but I would replace them immediately with MSR groundhogs, the Rolls Royce of tent stakes if you ask me.
