Montauk State Park - Spring 2021
For the fourth year in a row, we spent a few days camping at Montauk State Park in Salem Missouri. We took Doris The Slow Loris on the three hour journey south east of St. Louis and met Sara’s dad Doug at site 219, on the inner circle of loop 2. We like this site because it’s fairly open and close enough to the shower house to still be convenient.
We spent the first day of the trip getting settled into our site and making a nice pot of chili. You’ll actually see the full recipe in the video if you need a good, simple one pot recipie.
Day 2 of the trip was our best day of fishing, weather and food in my opinion. I got a ton of actual work for done for my clients and we caught some beautiful rainbow trout. We explored some water within the park that we’ve never fished before.
Day 3 was spent mostly in the RV because it rained most of the morning and later afternoon. The challenge of camping has been a fun exploration into a future of more permanent travel and how we’ll work from the road. I was able to have several video conference calls using just the AT&T cell phone service available in the park. We made tacos for dinner and played Trivial Pursuit into the early evening.
Day 4, Wednesday May 5th, was absolutely beautiful and we explored most of our spots, caught some stocker trouts and had a wonderful meal back in the campsite. Yose really did a great job on this trip, staying close without having to be called back, and really enjoyed laying in the hammock with Sara.
