HIBEAR Co Adventure Flask

If you are into the outdoors, and you are on social media, chances are you’ve been served an ad or seven for the Hibear co Adventure Flask. At its core it’s a fancy water bottle that transforms like a decepticon into a pour over coffee setup, and just as quickly into a cocktail shaker, and then into a cup to drink it all in. Now you must be saying AJ, my goodness, what an amazing contraption…I’d pay…hell $40 or even $60 dollars for one of those. Well actually, you’re going to pay about $100 bucks for it, which seems INSANE when you first hear it.

I’ll say it’s kind of insane after having owned it for about a week now too. That being said, I love, love, love this thing. It’s carefully designed, and rugged, and cool, and unique and hits most, if not everything that I would need this bottle to do, and I didn’t even know I needed it until they showed me, which is always fun.

I appreciate the brands that make great, unique, carefully thought through products. I love that Hibearco did a great job reaching me with creative content, that was on message for their audience and I like that they have color options that don’t overwhelm, but provide enough contrast to serve just about anyone.

To say it works well with my Prima System Backpack from Boundary supply would be an understatement. They look like they were designed to work together in tandem.

I have chosen to forgo the tea strainer attachment and the cold brew insert as well in a more minimalist setup, with the strainer, the coffee cone top and the screw lid. It makes for a great alternative, albeit heavier than a Nalgene with similar capacity. You can even use the supplied cup that nests on the bottom to fill the taller bottle from shorter bathroom style faucets.

Because I pretty much use our coffee maker, and a more purposeful v60 on days with no shore power, I know I’ll rarely use the coffee function of the Adventure Flask. I don’t often like to mix my coffee bottles with water bottles as it’s not easy to get the flavor out of the metal without using vinegar, and who’s going that far on a daily basis…not me. That being said, I love that I can use it when I want to, it’s going to be awesome on car camping trips and floats in the summer. Would I pay the $100 bucks to have one if it wasn’t given to me as a gift by my incredible wife…hell yeah I would, even though I know it’s a little crazy.
