Car Camping - A Road Trip from ST. Louis to Lexington

The non profit that I’ve worked for the last 7 years scheduled a student workshop in Lexington Kentucky a few months back. As the date got closer and closer, I kept thinking to myself…this might be a fun road trip…

I’ve driven through Lexington a few times on my way to cities in the SouthEast but never have I spent any time in the city. Louisville, just an hour an a half back in my direction held a similar spot in my logbook of travel, always a bridesmaid but never a bride.

This trip would change that. I chose to camp both nights, one before and one after the event, and figured this could be a great opportunity to test the mini camper I’d built in my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK1 “Nigel”

The bed platform I built will get a more dedicated video explaining how I built it and how it works, but overall, I slept incredibly comfortably both nights, never getting cold despite the temps dropping into the lower 30’s where I camped. I was also super pleased with the Bluetti eb70 power station that I brought along. Kept me charged up and ready for the event.

Cheers
