The Closest Float Trip To St. Louis

My buddy Jayson and I went on a 9 mile, 4 hour float in Kayaks on the Meramec River, about 40 minutes outside of St. Louis.

Brookdale Farms, and Twin Rivers Canoe Rental in Eureka treated us to a great day on the river, at the end of May, 2019.

Jayson picked me up at my house, and we drove to Brookdale farms, down hwy 44 from St. Louis. We both brought personal coolers with water and small dry boxes to keep our personal items dry.

We opted for small personal open top kayaks as opposed to Canoes for this trip as it gave us a little more freedom to individually explore the river.

The Meramec is a wide open river, with very little overgrowth, and not a lot of shade along the way. With the temperatures in the mid 90’s, we had a pretty warm day on our hands.

We had a great time on this float and i’d highly recommend it for anyone looking to get out of town for a day, without having to make the 2+ hour drive down to the Current River or even further.
