Small Stream Fly Fishing In Missouri
“Many men going fishing all of their lives without knowing it’s not the fish they are after” - Henry David Thoreau. If I have come to realize one thing about my love of fly fishing over the last three years, it is this, it’s not about the fish…for me. It’s about taking time out of the crazy schedule that we all burden ourselves with.
You don’t go fly fishing to fill your freezer with meat for the year, you do it for fun. That fun, gets amplified by 1000% when I include my fishing buddies Ed and Frank.
Over the last two years, Frank, Ed and I have all gotten really close and they are friendships that I will value for the rest of my life. We each bring our unique personalities and strengths to the table, and together, we are much stronger then on our own.
In Early November of 2021, we three fly anglers chose a small stream in central Missouri to chase small, wild trout. Our little crew had an absolute blast on the river that day, laughing, fishing, telling stories and sharing experiences that will last forever in our memories.
A real treat that our group “The Jefferson’s”, named after Jefferson Lake, where we all met, is cooking together on the bank of a stream, sharing food and great community. Ed treated Frank and I to a Coconut Chicken Curry with fresh vegetables, honey roasted peanuts and fresh torn cilantro. We quelled the heat with some Moscow Mules and lots of good stories.
I’m so grateful for friends and days like these. Looking forward to lots more like this in the coming years.
Cheers.
